GlobalPittsburgh Partner Cultural Vistas Seeking Mentors for Environmental Advocacy Program in Cambodia April 22-25; All Expenses Paid

GlobalPittsburgh partner Cultural Vistas in Washington, D.C., is recruiting 12 young professionals age 26-35 from the United States to act as leader mentors in a program on environmental advocacy for emerging leaders from Asian countries in Siem Reap, Cambodia, April 22-25, 2015.

All travel and lodging for the Young Southeast Asian Leadership Initiative Generation Earth: Environmental Advocacy Responsibility and Teamwork Workshop will be covered by a grant provided by the U.S. Embassy Phnom Penh (all travel arrangements will be made by Cultural Vistas), as well as a daily meal allowance. Leader mentors will be eligible to receive a small stipend for participating in the workshop.

Selected participants will mentor a group of young leaders from each of the 10 ASEAN member nations (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam) and the United States, and also deliver a session on an aspect of environmental advocacy during the workshop and during virtual preparation exercises (March 25-April 20).

Participants must be able to travel to Cambodia for the entire workshop (arriving in Siem Reap on Tuesday, April 24 and departing on Sunday, April 26).

Southeast Asian and American leader mentors will be paired up, and asked to guide small teams of participants in developing action plans to address an environmental challenge or take advantage of an environmental opportunity in Southeast Asia.

Applicants must be able to offer an engaging session that profiles innovative responses to environmental challenges in water/wetland management, cultural heritage and preservation, sustainable agriculture, natural resource management (including forestry), or biodiversity to 18-25 year old Young Southeast Asian Leaders, or which provide examples of entrepreneurial responses to such areas as fund raising/resource development/grant writing, project management, volunteer recruitment and management, or partnership development.
